Innovation Showcase 2012

The MIT Sloan CIO Symposium is an annual one-day conference, held on the MIT campus, where CIOs and other senior business executives from around the world gather to explore how leading-edge academic research and innovative technologies can help address the practical challenges faced in today's changing economy.

    Opscode is the leader in cloud infrastructure automation through the Opscode Platform, a widely used hosted service for configuration management and infrastructure automation.
  • Performable from Cambridge, MA
    Performable’s marketing software is ideal for professional marketers who need to measure activity across all channels, take action based on real behavior, and optimize for the entire customer lifecycle.
  • Rypple from Toronto, ON
    Rypple is web-based software that helps you get more feedback at work. Rypple provides a social interface for employees to ask for feedback, set goals, meet one-on-one, and share thanks.
  • Unidesk from Marlborough, MA
    Unidesk is a new software that creates user-customizable, easy-to-update, and storage-efficient virtual desktops.
  • Virtual Bridges from Austin, TX
    Virtual Bridges combines online, offline and remote branch VDI solutions to offer anytime, anywhere access to virtual desktops.
  • xPeerient from Natick, MA
    xPeerient is changing the way enterprise technology is bought and sold to make it more efficient, more trust-based and more effective for all the parties involved.

The MIT Sloan CIO Symposium is pleased to contribute to the MIT community's long standing tradition of entrepreneurship by featuring the Innovation Showcase. The Innovation Showcase connects CIOs and Senior Business Executives with ten carefully selected early stage technology companies who have the potential to help CIOs drive top line growth and bottom line results.

At the Innovation Showcase, attendees will be able to:

  • Engage with some of the most creative minds in the enterprise IT space.
  • Stay in touch with state-of-the-art thinking on IT solutions.
  • Network in a relaxing atmosphere with other leading IT executives.  

Since the 2011 Innovation Showcase, four of the 2011 Finalists have received significant Venture Capital, and one (Rypple) was recently acquired by Salesforce.com. 2010 Finalist CloudSwitch was acquired by Verizon.

Company selections are based upon the following criteria:
  • B2B enterprise IT solution product in the market
  • Innovation value, or uniqueness of the solution
  • Potential impact on the top and/or bottom Line
Qualification Criteria:
  • Start-up with <$10 million in annual revenues.
  • Selling enterprise IT solutions to CIOs.

Selection Criteria:

  • Innovation value.
  • Potential impact on the top and bottom line.
  • Affinity with MIT.

Nominations close on March 30, 2012. Finalists will be announced on April 20, 2012.

The Innovation Showcase Judges consist of MIT faculty and students, entrepreneurs, and early stage investors. If your company is selected, you will need to purchase one entry ticket, good for three people in your company to participate in the Innovation Showcase and attend the MIT CIO Symposium to be held during the day of May 22, 2012.
